Minister Conor Lenihan addresses SSPC joint Q2 Technical meeting with IDDN
The second quarterly technical meeting of the SSPC in 2009 was jointly hosted in UCD with the Irish Drug delivery Network (IDDN) Cluster. The IDDN Cluster is a network of scientists led by David Brayden, Professor of Drug Delivery at UCD, advancing research efforts to replace injections with oral and inhaled versions of biotech molecules (e.g. proteins and gene-based medicines).
The meeting was addressed by the Minister for Science, Technology, Innovation and Natural Resources, Mr. Conor Lenihan, who stressed the importance of research collaboration among research institutions and with industry in these challenging times. The press release from the Minister's visit can be seen here.
The meeting was very well attended by approximately 100 members drawn from the academic and industrial partners of both clusters. Presentations on the day from the SSPC were given by Prof. Kieran Hodnett, UL; Dr. Guiseppe Whelan, GSK; Dr. Vincent Caron, TCD; Dr. John O'Reilly, Roche Ireland and Dr. Colm Campbell, Clarochem Ireland.
